AMERICAN SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE BASEBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

HITTER OF THE WEEKIsaiah Swann, SS, Fr., UT Dallas
Freshman shortstop Isaiah Swann (Marietta, Ga./Wheeler HS) went 5-for-9 from the plate as No. 14 UT Dallas swept Howard Payne to close out the regular season and solidify the N. 2 seed for the ASC tournament series. Swann was 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored in the series-opening14-4 win over HPU and then went 2-for-5 with a double in Friday's doubleheader (April 28).
 
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEKCody Brown, RHP, Sr., UT Tyler
UT Tyler right-hander Cody Brown (Fulshear, Texas/Fort Bend Austin HS) improved to 7-2 on the season after striking out eight and limiting East Texas Baptist to five hits in a seven-inning complete game Friday in Marshall (April 28). Brown now leads UT Tylerwith 69 strikeouts and finished the regular season with a 2.73 ERA in 62 2/3 innings of work.
 
CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEKAaron Barteau, RHP, Sr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Senior Aaron Barteau (Dallas, Texas/Bishop Lynch HS) posted saves in two of Mary Hardin-Baylor's three victories at Louisiana College last weekend. The right-hander did not allow a run and gave up just two hits over two appearances. Barteau finished the regular season with a UMHB record 13 saves.
 
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES AT THE PLATE
 
Conner Combs (Southlake, Texas/Carroll HS) became the East Texas Baptist all-time hits leader with a home run in game three of the weekend series vs. UT Tyler – a 7-5 comeback win for ETBU. The first baseman enters the ASC tournament with 208 hits as a Tiger. Combs' sacrifice fly in the ninth inning of game 1 vs. UT Tyler tied play 5-5 at 5 before ETBU lost in 10 innings.
 
Outfielder Race Mellman (Refugio, Texas/Waller HS) helped Concordia Texas to a 2-1 weekend against McMurry, including a 19-1 domination of the War Hawks in the Friday opener (April 28). The senior had a double, driving in two and scoring twice. In the second game of the series, an 8-1 win, Mellman homered and had a triple, scoring three times and another pair of RBI. He also had two steals for the weekend.
 
Alex Bishop (Calgary, Alberta / Vauxhall Academy) hit a two-run triple to lift UT Tyler to a extra-inning win in the series opener and finished the three-game series at East Texas Baptist 6-for-13 with five RBI. Bishop had five singles to go along with his two-run triple. He finished the regular season with a .317 batting average and 13 RBI in 24 games played.
 
Center fielder Sully Martin (Paulina, La./Lutcher HS) went 6-for-11 (.545) in the Louisiana College three game series against Mary Hardin-Baylor (April 28-29). The junior hit two doubles in the series, scored two runs, and drove in two more for the Wildcats.
 
Freshman shortstop Mark Frankhouser (Cibolo, Texas/Steele HS) had back-to-back multiple-hit games in Mary Hardin-Baylor's series sweep of Louisiana College. He scored three runs and batted .462 over the three games. Franhouser's play helped lead the Cru to a No. 5 seed in the ASC tournament and UMHB has doubled last season's win total.
 
LeTourneau sophomore designated hitter Noah Mahoney (Flower Mound, Texas/THESA) was 4-for-6 with two doubles in a doubleheader against University of the Ozarks. Mahoney collected six total bases with a 1.000 slugging percentage, and scored two runs to go along with his three RBI.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior Taylor Cooling (Mont Belvieu, Texas/Barbers Hill HS) was 6-for-11 with six runs scored and drove in six runs as the Cowboys swept Sul Ross State to claim a spot in the ASC tournament. Cooling had a pair of home runs in the series and was also solid at shortstop with nine assists and just one error.
 
Andrew Beck (Conway, Ark./St. Joseph HS) helped Ozarks to its first conference doubleheader sweep of the season with a strong performance at the plate and on the mound. A senior DH/OF, Beck started on the mound in game one against LeTourneau and received the win. He helped his own cause by producing three hits and two RBI. In game two, Beck went 2-for-4, and in his final at-bat in an Eagle uniform, he homered to cap Senior Day.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES ON THE MOUND
 
Senior Jordan Carns (Sierra Vista, Ariz./Buena HS) pitched a complete game for LeTourneau against University of the Ozarks. Carns struck out two batters and forced 14 groundouts. Carns allowed four earned runs on 12 hits in the Friday matchup with Ozarks (April 28).
 
Garrett Johnston (Graham, Texas/HS) did not allow an earned run in six and one-third innings vs. Sul Ross State. The senior right-hander helped Hardin-Simmons get to the ASC Tournament with his win coming on his HSU senior day.
 
UT Dallas junior right-hander Ruben Renteria (El Paso, Texas/Montwood HS) improved to 9-1 as he recorded a complete-game three-hitter in a 3-1 win over Howard Payne (April 28). Renteria struck out three and walked two while giving up an earned run. Renteria and teammate Jamie Andriot (9-0) both tied the UTD single-season wins record with their ninth victory over the spring over the weekend against HPU.
 
Right-hander Matthew Brown (Houston, Texas/St. Thomas HS) pitched seven scoreless innings in the 19-1 Concordia Texas win over McMurry Friday (April 28). The senior allowed only six hits and walked none while striking out one.
 
Ozarks freshman right-hander Gyeongju Kim (Seoul, South Korea) struck out a career-high 13 in an 8-5 win over LeTourneau (April 28). Kim had a rare four strikeouts in the first inning and didn't stop there as he fanned nine more, coming with one strikeout of tying the school game record. Kim faced 28 batters and scattered six hits to receive the win.
 
Charlie Waddingham (Brandon, Miss./St. Joseph HS) pitched six innings for Louisiana College in the regular-season finale against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The senior right-hander struck out six batters and gave up three hits and one earned run. Waddingham held the Cru to a .167 batting average through the first six innings of the game.
