HITTER OF THE WEEK – Kam Summerall, Sr., OF, East Texas Baptist
Kam Sumerall (Paris, TX/HS) recoded a career weekend for East Texas Baptist hitting .636 with an .818 slugging percentage. The senior outfielder had two stolen bases and The senior outfielder went 4-of-5 in the final game of the series, a 9-3 Tigers win, and tied his career-high with four hits hits in the finale. Summerall also collected a pair of stolen bases.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Jamie Androit, Jr., RHP, UT Dallas
UT Dallas junior right-hander Jamie Andriot (Plano, TX) improved to 7-0 on the season as he recorded his first complete-game shutout of the season with an 8-0 victory over Louisiana College Thursday in the second game of the doubleheader. Andriot fanned four while limiting LC to just two hits, both in the second inning, as he faced the minimum 18 batters over the final six innings in the victory.
NOTABLE PLATE PERFORMANCES
LeTourneau left fielder Gonzalo Sosa (Houston, TX/Langham Creek HS) had a .444 slugging percentage and collected four total bases for the YellowJackets in the ASC series at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Patrick Clifford (Grand Prairie, TX/South Grand Prairie HS) hit .333 over the Ozarks' three-game series against Belhaven. Clifford recorded two doubles during that span.
Senior outfielder Terrell Hodges (Brandon, Miss./Northwest Rankin HS) had a triple and a home run, while scoring seven times last week for Belhaven. On Saturday against Ozarks, Hodges became the eighth Blazer in school history to swipe 50 bases in a career, finishing the week stealing four bases en route to scoring seven times.
Ty Johnson (Copperas Cove, TX/HS) batted.545 and slugged 1.091 in leading Mary Hardin-Baylor to a three-game sweep of LeTourneau. Johnson drove in seven runs and scored five more over the three games, and hit for the cycle in the ASC series.
Louisiana College infielder Seth Stevens (Central, La./Central Private School) had a 3-for-4 game in the Wildcats series opener against UT Dallas. Stevens drove in the tying run in the series finale and scored a run and drew two walks over the series.
Hardin-Simmons third baseman Jace Langen (Iowa Park, TX/HS) had a big weekend out of the nine hole as he hit .556 with four runs scored and drove in three runs in a non-conference series vs. Texas Lutheran.
Freshman outfielder Luke Richter (Austin, TX/McCallum HS) hit .571 as No. 13 UT Dallas went 3-1 last week, including a three-game ASC sweep of Louisiana College. In the three-game set vs. LC, Richter was 6-for-11 with five RBI and three runs scored. He opened the week with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI and a run scored in an 8-5 home loss to Concordia Texas Tuesday.
Brett Quackenbush (Kingsville, TX/Riviera Kaufer HS) led Howard Payne going 4-for-7 with six RBI in the first two games of the series versus McMurry.
NOTABLE PITCHING PERFORMANCES
Andrew Harlan (Lewisville, TX/HS) tied a season-high with seven strikeouts, including three straight in the third inning, vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor. Harlan allowed just three earned runs on 10 hits in his eight-inning effort and his 3.38 ERA was the best for LeTourneau in the series.
Kyle Loson (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood Park HS) had his best outing of his East Texas Baptist career with a four-hit, four-strikeout shutout in the 9-0 win over Concordia Texas (April 14). The win helped ETBU to stay in second place in the ASC.
Ozarks freshman right-hander Gyeongju Kim (Seoul, Korea) retired 18 straight batters and didn't allow a hit until the seventh inning in a no-decision against Belhaven April 13. Kim had a perfect game over six innings, and ended the night with 11 strikeouts and one walk.
Zach Moseley (Harker Heights, TX/HS) picked up his ninth and 10th saves of the season to claim the first two games of the Howard Payne series vs. McMurry.
Right-hander Landon Boyd (Columbus, Miss./New Hope HS) tossed seven shutout innings en route to a 7-1 victory over Ozarks to help Belhaven complete an ASC series sweep. Boyd scattered seven hits with one walk while fanning three batters.
Casey Frazier (Salado, TX/HS) allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings of a 12-0 victory over LeTourneau, improving to 3-0. The junior right-hander struck out six and walked one while holding the Yellowjackets to an .067 batting average.
Charlie Waddingham (Brandon, Miss./St. Joseph HS) pitched 5.1 innings in the series final against UT Dallas, scattering 10 hits over the five innings while allowing two runs in a no-decision performance.
