HITTER OF THE WEEKJimmy Kizer, So., OF, East Texas Baptist
Sophomore outfielder Jimmy Kizer (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff HS) went 7-of-9 for a .778 average with two doubles and 19 total bases in the Tigers’ season opening series against Schreiner. In games one and three, Kizer went 5-of-5 with three runs scored. He came in during the eighth inning in game one and went 2-of-2 with a stolen base. He brought in three of ETBU's seven runs in an 8-7 loss in game three cut short after six innings due to no lights.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEKJustin Traxler, Jr., RHP, Concordia Texas
Junior pitcher Justin Traxler (Austin, Texas/ Vista Ridge HS) pitched six innings and gave up only three hits with five strikeouts in the season opener at #10/21 Texas Lutheran. Traxler allowed only one run, while the Tornados put up seven runs to take the opening game over the Bulldogs.

Concordia Texas sophomore first baseman Bret Leiferman (Round Rock, Texas/ Round Rock HS) went 1-2 with a home run in the Tornados' 7-1 win over #10/21 Texas Lutheran. Leiferman scored twice and drove in two runs while working three walks in the game. In the final game of the series, he had a triple and a run scored.

East Texas Baptist senior pitcher Ashley Dukes (Gladewater, Texas / Sabine HS) went five innings in a seven inning game with six strikeouts. He retired the side in the fourth inning and recorded one strike out in every inning … Sul Ross State junior pitcher Cody Remore (Liberty Hills, Texas / Liberty Hills HS) had six strikeouts and allowed just two walks over nine innings . He yielded just three hits for a 4-0 shutout victory over University of Dallas in the series finale Sunday.
