ASC Teams Compete in Fall Singles/Doubles Invitational

ABILENE, Texas –The 2016-17 American Southwest Conference tennis season opened Friday as men's and women's tennis teams competed in the Fall Invitational hosted by Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry Univeristy in Abilene, Texas on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 16-17).

Nine institutions met on the courts in the fall semester tournament played in singles and doubles flights. Eight ASC teams – East Texas Baptist, Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne, LeTourneau, Mary Hardin-Baylor, McMurry, Univ. of Ozarks and Sul Ross State -- were joined by Schreiner in the all-Division III event.

Several ASC teams will send singles and doubles representatives to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southwest Regional over the next two weekends. The women's Southwest ITA Regional will be played in Abilene, Texas, hosted by Hardin-Simmons and McMurry, September 22-23. The men's Southwest ITS Regional is scheduled September 30 and October 1 in Tyler, Texas, hosted by Texas-Tyler. Belhaven will compete in the ITA Southeast Regional hosted by Mary Washington.
