ASC SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards for Basketball Announced

All-Time Winners
 
RICHARDSON, Texas –– East Texas Baptist, Ozarks, McMurry and Sul Ross State were named winners of the American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards for the 2015-16 winter sports, the conference office announced on Monday (April 4).
 
The award, in its ninth academic year, honors the member institution(s) in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) from the conference's 13 member institutions vote on the recipients.
 
With the return of the East and West Division format, the men’s and women’s basketball SAAC awards have expanded to four teams for its annual honor.
 
Both the Sul Ross State and Ozarks men’s and women’s basketball teams received honors. The East Texas Baptist men’s team and the McMurry women’s team also received awards.
 
In men’s basketball East Texas Baptist and Ozarks shared the honor in the East Division and Sul Ross State received the West Division award. ETBU and SRSU each received their second honor while Ozarks takes home its first award in men’s basketball.
 
In women’s basketball Ozarks received the honor in the East Division while McMurry and Sul Ross State were took home co-honors in the West Division.
 
The next ASC SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards will be named after the 2016 spring season.
