HITTER OF THE WEEKJosh Warbington, Jr., DH, East Texas Baptist
Junior designated hitter Josh Warbington (Hallsville, Texas / Hallsville HS) had the best series of his career with three home runs, including a grand slam, with eight RBI and a .500 average at the plate with a slugging percentage of 1.500. He went 4-of-6 in the first two games of the series with seven RBI, two home runs, and a double. In the first game against McMurry, Warbington was 2-of-3 with three RBI, a double and a home run. In the first game on Saturday he was 2-of-3 with four RBI and a home run. In the final game he was 1-of-4 with an RBI from another home run. In the 9-2 win on Friday, Warbington accounted for three of the nine runs on a solo shot and then a double for two RBI to make it 8-0. On Saturday, ETBU was only up 3-1 when Warbington hit a grand slam in the sixth inning of a seven inning game for a 7-1 lead. In the final game, he homered in the fifth inning to tie the game at one.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEKLane Hobbs, Jr., RHP, Concordia Texas
Junior pitcher Lane Hobbs (Thrall, Texas / Temple JC) recorded a seven inning shutout win against Ozarks (March 5). Hobbs recorded 11 strike outs with one walk and allowed six hits while collecting five fly outs and five groundouts. He continues to rack up the strikeouts, adding a dozen more to his season total in two appearances last week. Hobbs has yet to give up an earned run in 2016.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES AT THE PLATE
 
Belhaven junior outfielder Terrell Hodges (Brandon, Miss. / Northwest Rankin HS) went 6-for-10 in his first home weekend series. Of his six hits, he had three triples and a double. He recorded a triple in each game against Sul Ross State, and was a home run shy from the cycle in the series finale on Saturday. Hodges also three RBI and scored three runs as well.
 
Concordia Texas junior outfielder Race Mellman (Refugio, Texas / Waller HS) helped the Tornados in both victories over the weekend, getting a pair of RBI in each game. He hit his first home run of the season in game one then smashed an RBI triple in the finale. He also went 2-for-4 in the loss at Trinity on March 1.
 
Hardin-Simmons senior outfielder Jamie Ball (Morton, Miss. / Morton HS) had a big weekend for the Cowboys as they swept Texas Dallas in Richardson. Ball went 2-for-4 with a double and triple and drove in three runs and scored three times in the 14-4 win. He later went 3-for-5 with a run scored and drove in two more runs in the series finale. Ball had eight putouts in the outfield, including a diving snag with the bases loaded in the 4-3 win on Friday.
 
Howard Payne senior shortstop Brandon Garrett (Dipping Springs, Texas / Dipping Springs HS) led the Jackets going 8-for-16 at the plate over four games. Garrett was 7-for-9 in the Saturday double header against Mary Hardin-Baylor. For the week, he was 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts and did not strikeout in 16 at bats.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore second baseman Seth Martin (Gatesville, Texas / Gatesville HS) hit.571, scored seven runs and drove in five more last week. Martin had three multi-hit games in four starts and slugged .786. Martin also walked twice and was hit by a pitch as he posted an on-base percentage of .647 from his leadoff spot. He even went 2-of-2 on stolen bases.
 
Ozarks junior outfielder Andrew Beck (Conway, Ark. / St Joseph HS) went 5-for-12 in a three-game series against Concordia Texas. Beck had a three-hit game in game three of the series and has hit safely in 13-of-14 games. He is currently batting .464 on the year.
 
Sul Ross State freshman outfielder Wesley Moss (San Antonio, Texas / Brennan HS) hit .438 over a three-game series at Belhaven last weekend. Moss batted 2-of-3 and 3-of-4 in 3-1 and 12-6 victories during Friday's doubleheader. Moss clubbed a triple in the first game Saturday and a double in the series closer, both leading to RBI.
 
Texas Dallas sophomore centerfielder Josh Covey (Tomball, Texas / Tomball HS) was 6-for-13 from the plate with a double in the Comets' four games last week. He opened the week with a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and two RBI, along with two steals, in a 9-2 road win over Austin College Tuesday. He was then 4-for-9 with two RBI and a run scored in a three-game home series with Hardin-Simmons over the weekend. Covey has currently reached base in 11 straight games.
 
Texas-Tyler sophomore first baseman Alex Bishop (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / Vauxhall Academy) ripped four doubles and produced four runs for the Patriots in a three-game week where he also had two singles to hit .462 last week. Bishop also scored three runs for the Patriots who opened the week with an 8-0 loss at Centenary before sweeping a two-game series at Louisiana College in the first three games away from Tyler this season. Bishop has nine doubles through 15 games this season and is hitting .333 with 15 RBI. He also has one triple and is second on the team with 17 runs scored.
 
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES ON THE MOUND
 
Belhaven senior pitcher Tanner Cable (Southaven, Miss. / Southaven HS) had a solid performance on the mound for the Blazers in Friday's victory against Sul Ross State. He went seven innings, scattered five hits, allowed two earned runs on three walks and five strikeouts. Eleven of the 21 outs he recorded were on the ground in the Blazers 5-2 victory over the Lobos.
 
East Texas Baptist senior pitcher Ernest Perez (Corpus Christi, Texas / West Oso HS) improved to 5-0 on the year with a seven-inning performance in a nine-inning game for his fifth win in the first game of series against McMurry. He struck out six and gave up just two runs while walking just one.
 
Hardin-Simmons junior pitcher Jeremy Hallmark (Midland, Texas / Midland HS) worked in and out of jams and worked five scoreless innings for the win on Friday against Texas Dallas.
 
Howard Payne sophomore pitcher Zach Moseley (Harker Heights, Texas / Harker Heights HS) started one game and made three appearances throwing a total of 5.1 innings. Moseley did not give up a run and allowed only three hits. Holding batters faced to a .176 average for the week, Moseley also picked up a save against Mary Hardin-Baylor.
 
Mary Hardin-Baylor senior pitcher Cory Farr (New Caney, Texas / New Caney HS) earned saves in all three Cru victories last week. Farr did not allow a run in two and a third innings pitched and had one strike out a batter and no walks. Farr now has saves in five of the Cru's six wins on the year.
 
Ozarks freshman pitcher Brady Taylor (Plano, Texas / Plano West HS) threw six shutout innings in his first collegiate start to earn a victory over Concordia Texas, March 4. Taylor fanned four and tossed 6.1 innings.
 
Sul Ross State freshman pitcher Jeremy Martinez (San Antonio, Texas / Holy Cross) pitched six solid innings in a 3-1 victory over Belhaven Saturday. He finished with a 1.50 ERA for the afternoon and held the Blazers to a team batting average of .227. Martinez struck out three opposing batters and yielded a run off of five hits.
 
Texas-Tyler junior pitcher Cason Adams (Rockwall, Texas / Rockwall HS) moved his season's record to 2-0 after earning a win last Friday at Louisiana College. Adams recorded six strikeouts and limited the Wildcats to two runs over six innings as the Patriots ran away with a series-opening win (12-2). Adams scattered five hits over six innings and now has 23 strikeouts on the season.
