All-Time Winners

RICHARDSON, Texas - Eight American Southwest Conference member institutions were recognized by the 13 conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committees as recipients of ASC-SAAC Team Sportsmanship awards for the fall 2016 sport seasons.

The SAAC Team Sportsmanship award honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The fall 2016 awards are presented in men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball with each of the 13 campus SAACs voting within the sports it sponsors.

LeTourneau University led with three team SAAC awards. The YellowJackets were recognized in men's cross country and were part of a four-team tie in women's soccer. LeTourneau also shared honors with Belhaven University as co-East Division winners in volleyball. LeTourneau received its second award in men's cross country (2015, 16') and women's soccer (2013, 16') and fourth in volleyball (2007, 14', 15', 16'). Belhaven received its first team SAAC award in any sport since joining the ASC in 2015.

McMurry University and Louisiana College each received two team SAAC awards. McMurry received honors in women's soccer and was part of a tri-West Division award in volleyball. McMurry received its first award in volleyball and second in women's soccer (2011, 16'). Louisiana College received recognition in men's and women's soccer. The Wildcats lead the ASC with five awards in men's soccer (2008, 11', 12', 14', 16') and picked up their second citation in women's soccer (2014, 16').

Five other ASC members each received one team SAAC award.

Concordia University Texas and University of Mary Hardin-Baylor shared honors with McMurry as tri-recipients in West Division volleyball. Concordia Texas (2009, 10', 13', 16') and Mary Hardin-Baylor both (2007, 12', 15'. 16') picked up their fourth awards in women's volleyball.

East Texas Baptist University received its fourth consecutive honor in women's cross country (2013, 14', 15', 16'). Howard Payne University picked up its fourth award in football (2007, 08', 12', 16') and Hardin-Simmons University received its second honor in women's soccer (2014, 16').

The quad-award in women's soccer is the first in the history of the award. The 2016 softball award last spring is the only other honor given to four teams.

The ASC SAAC Team Sportsmanship award is presented for the 10th year during the 2016-17 sport seasons. The winter sports award will be announced following completion of the men's and women's basketball championships.
