OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKAaron Hastings, MF, So., LeTourneau
Sophomore midfielder Aaron Hastings (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair HS) headed in the game-tying goal at Southwest Assemblies of God in the 83rd minute. Earlier in the game, he scored in the 41st minute. It was the first multi-goal game of his career. Hastings finished the game with a team-high nine shots.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Joseph Weber, GK, Jr., Texas Dallas
Junior goalkeeper Joseph Weber (Frisco, Texas/Heritage HS) recorded his third shutout of the season Friday as he helped the Comets blank Southwestern (2-0). Weber later made six saves Sunday afternoon before the Comets fell to No. 6 Trinity in overtime (2-1).

OFFENSIVE
Belhaven sophomore forward Lucas Talaveira-Befi (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Madre Alix) went on a scoring spree during the week. He contributed both goals in the Transylvania Soccer Showcase against host Transylvania on Monday. On Saturday against Covenant, Befi contributed the match-tying goal in the 53rd minute. Befi finished with three goals and eight shots, with six on goal … Concordia Texas sophomore forward Alejandro Labastida (Austin, Texas/McNeil HS) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 10th minute against Schreiner. The goal came on a feed from Marc Kouassi. Labastida played just 27 minutes … Hardin-Simmons junior forward Cole Johnson (Universal City, Texas/Judson HS) gave the Cowboys an early lead with a goal against Southwestern in the first win of the year for the Cowboys … Texas Dallas junior forward J.T. Hawkins (McKinney, Texas/McKinney HS) scored his team-leading third goal of the season Friday as he tallied the game-winner in the Comets' 2-0 home win over Southwestern. On the week, Hawkins took just four shots, but three were on goal … Texas-Tyler freshman midfielder Lucas Pereira (Barcelona, Spain/Frederic Mistral) scored a goal for the third straight game in a draw against LSU-Alexandria last Saturday after Leandro Sid Fernandez played a ball from midfield through to Pereira who chipped it over the goalkeeper for the goal. Pereira finished the game with a team-leading four shots on goal and now has three goals in his first four collegiate games for the Patriots.
 
DEFENSIVE
Belhaven junior goalkeeper Ben Schaefer (Tupelo, Miss./Tupelo HS) contributed six saves during the past week while allowing two goals. Schafer had a major impact on opponents trying to take shots, allowing only 10 shots on goal, with one against Covenant on Saturday … Concordia Texas senior goalkeeper Nick Martin (Silver City, N.M./Silver HS) helped the Tornados to a shutout victory over Schreiner Saturday. While he relied on his defense to keep the Mountaineers without a shot for much of the contest, Martin's clearances helped Concordia control the match. He combined on the clean sheet with Josh Artega, who came into the ballgame with about 15 minutes left … Hardin-Simmons senior defender Dustin Beal (Midland, Texas/Midland Lee HS) led a stingy Cowboy defense that allowed just one goal each against No. 6 Trinity and Southwestern. Beal also scored a goal off a corner in the win over Southwestern … LeTourneau junior goalkeeper Miguel Cabrera (Longview, Texas/Longview HS) surrendered just two goals in 200 minutes of action between the posts for the YellowJackets. Against Centenary (La.), Cabrera stopped a penalty kick and rebound shot in the 85th minute to preserve a 1-0 shutout.

Belhaven (3-0-0) – Belhaven used key second half goals in both matches to win both contests last week. On Monday, the Blazers finished the Transylvania Soccer Showcase with a 2-1 victory of host Transylvania. Five days later, Belhaven continued its road trip against Covenant College. Trailing 1-0 at the half, Lucas Talaveira-Befi and Cillian Thompson finished the come-from-behind victory for its first win against Covenant since 1985. Since 2012, the Blazers are 35-10-2 away from home. The Blazers will make their home opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor in the ASC opener on Thursday night.
 
Concordia Texas (4-0-0) –The Tornados established a record winning streak and continued their best start to a season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Schreiner last Saturday. In addition to Alejandro Labastida, Isaiah Coombs, Matthew Butler and Ronny Garza contributed on the scoring. The entire defense held the Mountaineers to just one shot on goal in 90 minutes. The clean sheet was the first dealt by the Tornados in 2015. Concordia’s Friday match against Texas Lutheran was cancelled due to poor field conditions.
 
East Texas Baptist (0-4-0) – East Texas Baptist played just one match last week against NAIA Houston-Victoria and fell, 5-1. Pablo James scored the lone goal for ETBU to cut the lead to one, 2-1. Four different players have recorded one goal for ETBU this year to lead the team. Juan Perales has 13 saves in goal.
 
Hardin-Simmons (1-2-1) – Hardin-Simmons will open conference play at Ozarks and Texas-Tyler this weekend. HSU has lost a pair of one-goal games to the No. 6 and No. 7 ranked teams in the nation and also has a tie against a very good Claremont Mudd Scripps team.
 
Howard Payne (0-2-0) – Howard Payne gave up a late goal and fell to Schreiner (1-0) Tuesday afternoon in nonconference action. The Jackets will play next on September 18 at LeTourneau in Longview, Texas at 7:00 p.m.
 
LeTourneau (2-2-1) – LeTourneau has scored five of its seven goals in the first 45 minutes. YellowJacket goalkeepers have 17 of their 31 saves in the first half. LETU went 1-0-1 in last week’s action with a 1-0 shutout win over Centenary College on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and they followed that up with a 2-2 tie against Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday, Sept. 12.
 
Louisiana College (0-3-0) – Louisiana College was idle this past week. The Wild Cats will face in-state rival LSU-Alexandria Tuesday before starting conference play at home against Concordia Texas on Thursday.
 
Mary-Hardin-Baylor (2-2-0) – Mary Hardin-Baylor returns after a road trip to Tacoma, Wash., where the Cru went 1-2 with a 1-0 win over Puget Sound. UMHB also faced Whitworth (0-1) and Pacific Lutheran (1-2 OT) on the trip. The Cru returns to action Thursday in a 7:00 p.m. match against Belhaven in Jackson, Miss.
 
McMurry (0-4-0) – McMurry will be looking for its first win of the season this week when it travels to Texas-Tyler.
 
Ozarks (1-2-2) – Ozarks went on the road for the second straight weekend and came out with a 0-2-0 record. Ozarks lost to Westminster College 1-0, and then lost a heart-wrenching overtime match 2-1 against Webster. Ozarks will now host five straight home matches beginning with Hardin-Simmons. Against Westminster, Ozarks totaled 14 shots and four corner kicks, but couldn't find the back of the net. Against Webster, Thomas Mills scored in the 33rd minute as the Eagles led 1-0 all the way up until the home team netted a goal with about 50 seconds remaining. With the score tied 1-1 in overtime, Webster put home the game-winner in the 97th minute.
 
Texas Dallas (4-1-0) – The Comets extended their season-opening win streak to four games Friday with a 2-0 home win over Southwestern before falling to No. 6 Trinity, 2-1, in overtime Sunday afternoon. UTD hosts Austin College Tuesday night to wrap up a six-game home stand before facing East Texas Baptist and LeTourneau on the road this weekend in a pair of nonconference games.

Texas-Tyler (1-2-1) – The Patriots played to a 1-1 draw in their final nonconference game of the season last Saturday against LSU-Alexandria at home. Lucas Pereira scored a goal for the third straight game, but the Generals scored a late goal to force overtime. Texas-Tyler enters ASC play with a 1-2-1 record and having played in overtime in three of the four games.
