RICHARDSON, Texas
–The 2015-16 American Southwest Conference tennis season opened Friday as men's and women's tennis teams competed in the Fall Invitational hosted by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 11-12).
Eleven institutions met on the courts in the fall semester tournament played in singles and doubles flights. Nine ASC teams – Concordia Texas, East Texas Baptist, Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne, LeTourneau, Mary Hardin-Baylor, McMurry, Sul Ross State and Texas-Tyler (women) -- were joined by Schreiner and Texas Lutheran in the all-Division III event.
Several ASC teams will send singles and doubles representatives to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
(ITA)
Southwest Regional over the next two weekends. The women's Southwest ITA Regional will be played in Georgetown, Texas, hosted by Southwestern University, September 18-20. The men's Southwest ITS Regional is scheduled September 24-27 in San Antonio, Texas, hosted by Trinity University.
