ASC SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards for Basketball Announced

All-Time Winners
RICHARDSON, Texas
–– Concordia Texas, Howard Payne, LeTourneau and Sul Ross State were named winners of the American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards for 2014-15 winter sports, the conference office announced on Thursday (March 5).
The award, in its eighth academic year, honors the member institution(s) in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) from the conference's 12 member institutions vote on the recipients.
For the first time in the awards’ history, three teams were selected in a three-way tie as Concordia Texas, Howard Payne and LeTourneau won the conference's SAAC team sportsmanship award in men's basketball. Concordia receives its first award. HPU takes home its fourth honor and first since 2011 and LETU receives its second award and first since 2009.
In women’s basketball, Sul Ross State received its third consecutive honor and fourth award since 2010.
The next ASC SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards will be named after the 2015 spring season.
