ASC Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams, Awards Announced

RICHARDSON, Texas – Howard Payne junior guard Danyel Bradley was named Player of the Year the league office announced in conjunction with the release of the 2015 American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball All-Conference teams on Monday (March 2), following a vote of the league's head coaches.
 
Bradley’s ASC Player of the Year award is one of six honors received by conference players. Howard Payne senior center Kalin Hanna was named Defensive Player of the Year and Sul Ross State guard Desare Allen received Freshman of the Year honors. Texas-Tyler sophomore guard Michelle Obach was named Newcomer of the Year and Ozarks senior guard Jordana Andrews took home Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year honors. Texas-Tyler Coach Kevin Baker was named ASC Coach of the Year.
 
Bradley (DeSoto, Texas/Bishop Lynch HS), a two-time all-conference selection, finished the regular season as the leading scorer in Division III with 22.3 points per game. Her 602 points overall are the most scored by an ASC player in a single season since former Howard Payne player and current coach of the Lady Jackets, Meia Daniels, set the conference record in 2008 (649). The only ASC player to record more than 1,000 minutes on the floor (1,018), Bradley ranked in the top 10 in six league categories. In addition to leading the ASC in scoring, Bradley also held top marks in steals (93), ranked third in free throw percentage (.831), fourth in field goal percentage (.449) and ninth in assists (3.1).
 
Hanna (Flower Mound, Texas/Coram Deo Academy) was named Defensive Player of the Year for a second consecutive season after leading the ASC in blocks for the second year in a row. Hanna set the conference record last year for most blocks in a season with 89 and broke her own record this year with 90. She finished the regular season ranked ninth in Division III in blocks per game (3.38).
 
Allen (Midland, Texas/Midland HS) started all 23 games for the Lady Lobos. In more than 500 minutes of court time, Allen recorded nine blocks, 28 steals, shot .435 from the perimeter, ranked 17th in the ASC in rebounds (6.7) and finished second on the team in scoring (9.6).
 
Obach (Tyler, Texas/T.K. Gorman HS), a third-team all-conference selection, ranked second in steals (66), third in assists (113) and led the ASC in assist-turnover ratio (2.1). Obach started all 28 games for the Patriots and logged a team-high 807 minutes of game time. She shot .471 from the perimeter, hit 34 three-pointers and had 53 rebounds with 293 points.
 
Andrews (Center Ridge, Ark./Nemo Vista HS ) started all 26 games this season and helped lead Ozarks to its second consecutive ASC Tournament appearance. Ranked 12th in assists (2.8), 14th in three-point field goals (1.5) and 26th in scoring (10.3), Andrews led the team in minutes played (872), knocked down 40 three-pointers and had 105 rebounds with 269 points.
 
Texas-Tyler Coach Kevin Baker received ASC Coach of the Year honors for a second consecutive season. The Patriots won their second straight regular season title, recorded a 19-1 mark against league opponents and received their highest ranking in team history in the D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll at No. 10. The Patriots ended the regular season as one of the highest scoring teams in NCAA Division III. Texas-Tyler ranked seventh in total points (2,003), eighth in points per game (80.1) and scoring margin (+22.5).
 
Texas-Tyler senior forward Brittany King and Mary Hardin-Baylor senior forward Taylor Tucker lead the 2015 All-ASC members with their third consecutive all-conference awards. Bradley, Texas Dallas senior guard Madi Hess, Louisiana College senior guard Neka Jones, UMHB senior guard Alyssa Dean and East Texas Baptist senior guard Amanda Rucker each received their second career all-conference awards. UTD senior guard Amber Brown received her third Defensive Team honor while Hanna takes home her second award.
