TYLER, Texas -- Texas Dallas and Concordia Texas played close for most of the first half of Thursday's quarterfinal-matchup, but it was the Comets who pulled away in the second half, winning 59-47.

In the first half, it was the Comets who controlled the flow of the game from the get-go, but did not go ahead by more than six points in the first 20 minutes.
UT Dallas opened up the second half on a 17-to-8 run, going up 43-40 with 10:55 left to play. A Kia Love layup would put Concordia (9-16) to within nine with 6:19 left, but that would be as close as they would get.

The Comets shot 48-percent for the night, while the Tornados shot 41-percent, going 18-of-44 from the field.
