RICHARDSON, Texas -- Twenty-two graduating student-athletes from the American Southwest Conference's 12 member institutions have been named as recipients of the 2013-14 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Award, the ASC office announced on Friday (May 23).
The ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Award is presented to one male and one female member of the graduating class who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics and leadership over their collegiate career. The award is presented annually by the Faculty Athletics Representative at each conference member institution.
Recipients of the ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor Award winners represent 15 different conference sports and include individuals who graduated with academic honors or hold admissions to graduate-level programs; are members of academic honor societies and campus organizations; competed on national, conference or division title teams; earned ASC All-Academic, Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, All-Conference honors; and who served as volunteers, tutors and teachers within their campus, community and church groups.

Megan Wagenaar

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Wagenaar was named the ASC Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 800m and 1500m titles at the ASC Championships this spring. She also ran the anchor leg in the winning 4x400-meter relay squad. Wagenaar set a pair of school records in the 800m and 1500m during her final campaign. In the fall, she became the first runner in program history to advance to the NCAA Championships in cross country after a runner-up finish at the ASC Championships. She also set a pair of school records in both the 5k and 6k. Wagenaar, who was named the Concordia Texas Female Student-Athlete of the Year, graduated with a 3.97 GPA. She received numerous academic honors, including being named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team.

She is a member of the Delta Chi Rho sorority and this year was named to the Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities list.

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Bertram has a 3.94 cumulative grade-point average while studying kinesiology at LeTourneau. Twice, he has been named to the American Southwest Conference Academic Honor Roll and has played in 137 career games with 146 hits including 73 runs scored which all rank in the top 10 all-time in LeTourneau history. Of his 146 hits, 34 have been doubles which ranks in the top five all-time. Earlier this year, he earned Hitter of the Week recognition from the ASC and throughout his career; he has been an active participant in community service projects with the baseball program.

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Glover is a three-year letter winner and was one of five LeTourneau University recipients for the Distinguished Senior Award. She has been a four-year recipient of the Presidential Scholarship and the 2013 recipient of the R.G. LeTourneau Legacy Award. Twice, she has been named to the American Southwest Conference Academic Honor Roll. She was named to the All-ASC team as a junior and has been one of the top offensive threats in program history. She ranks fourth in runs scored and doubles, fifth in home runs and RBI and sixth in games played. Glover graduated with her bachelor's degree and with Summa Cum Laude honors (May 3).

Hunter Feibel

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Feibel, who in 2013 became the first Louisiana College offensive lineman since 2003 to be named a D3football.com All-American, racked up an impressive list of awards both on and off the field during his career at LC. A two-time All-ASC performer, 2013 D3football.com Second Team All-Region and Second Team All-American honoree as well as an LSWA All-Louisiana performer, Feibel was three times named a member of the ASC Academic Honor Roll while carrying a 3.8 GPA. Feibel, who graduated in May 2014 with a final GPA of 3.28, is currently in the process of pursuing a career in the medical field. He set an LC offensive lineman record in 2013 by grading out at 95 percent on the season while leading his team in pancake blocks with 27. He is a three-year member of the LC football Wildcat Unity Council, an elite group of leaders within the program who are selected by their teammates and revered for their leadership, work ethic, honesty, and character.
Meagan Pearson

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Pearson came to Louisiana College in the fall of 2011 after transferring from Tennessee Tech. From there, Meagan has been a model of consistency and excellence both on and off the field during her career as a Lady Wildcat. A three-time Academic All-Conference honoree, Pearson has started 98 straight games as both a catcher and shortstop for LC head coach Mark Rosier and assistant coach Jay Barber. After moving to shortstop before the 2013 season, Pearson enjoyed her finest year as a collegiate player in 2014, earning 1
st Team All-ASC honors while hitting a team-high 6 home runs and recording 36 RBI. Before a knee injury sidelined her during the 2014 season, Pearson was leading the Lady Wildcats as well as the ASC in virtually every offensive category, including batting average (.547), home runs (5), and RBI (32). She finished with a single season school record .500 batting average for the season. A Fitness and Wellness major, Meagan graduated with honors in May 2014 with a final GPA of 3.52.

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Josh is a four-year letterman for the Cru football team and played for four conference champions. UMHB advanced to the National Semifinals twice and the National Quarterfinals twice during his career. Josh was a two-time Capital One Academic All-American and two-time Capital One Academic All-District VIII selection. He earned D3football.com First Team All-America honors this season and was also an All-South Region and ASC All-Conference pick. Josh started 13 of the 14 games at offensive guard for UMHB this season and the Cru never lost a regular season game during his career. He is a three-time ASC All-Academic pick and was also voted ASC Football Distinguished Scholar-Athlete following the 2013 season. Josh maintains a 4.00 career GPA with a double major in exercise and sport science and history.

She was an Academic All-American last year and was also the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for women's tennis. Bilbo is a three-time ASC All-West Division selection in both singles and doubles and has played for a pair of ASC West Division champions during her career. She plays No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles for the UMHB women.

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Gray is a member of the ASC All-Academic Team (2011, 12, 13), the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team, Delta Mu Delta, Mississippi College Who's Who, President's List Scholar, Dean's List Scholar and the Mississippi College Alpha Chi Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This year Gray received the Mississippi Society of CPA's Award and the School of Business Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. Gray has been actively involved on campus as a member of Mortar Board and the Mississippi College Senate. He served two years on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. A four-year player, starting every game for the past two years, Gray is a 2013 team captain, Jackson Touchdown Club's Most Valuable Senior, and ASC Outstanding Sportsman of the Year. He earned Second Team All-ASC honors this past season after finishing third on the team with 60 tackles and leading the team with three fumble recoveries. Gray is the only player in school history to record at least 100 tackles, one interception, throw a touchdown pass and catch a touchdown pass.
Nicole Horton

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Horton is a four-year member of the Mississippi College President's and Dean's List, a member of the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team (2013), the ASC All-Academic Team (2013), Who's Who Among American University and College Students, and Alpha Chi Honor Society. The 2014 recipient of the Norman O'Neal Religious Education Award, Horton is actively involved in FCA, serving on the leadership team, as a volleyball Life group leader, and a Prayer Team leader. She has volunteered with different apartment ministries, Bible Club, and volleyball community service try outs and clinics. She is a member of Pine Lake Church and has taken mission trips to Barbados, Spain, and Paraguay. Horton has been a four-year player and served as the team captain for the 2013 season. She finished her career second in MC history with 261 total blocks and sixth in school history with 520 kills. This season, Horton played in all 30 matches for the Lady Choctaws. She finished second on the team with 198 kills, while recording 11 services aces and 13 assists. Horton finished second on the team with 80 total blocks, including 22 solo.

Considered a leader by his coach and teammates, Nunez impressed with his dedication and work ethic throughout his career. In the classroom, he is a three-time member of the ASC All-Academic Team and a member of the Dean's List. Nunez helped the program earn the NSCAA Team Academic award. His community service work includes serving as a volunteer for the Special Olympics, working at a local soccer clinic and coaching track and field at Clarksville High School. On campus, he has been a member of the Student Foundation Board.
Whitney Lewis

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Lewis has been a top student, athlete and leader during her four-year career. She has excelled in the classroom, earning ASC All-Academic honors three times. Additionally, she has been a member of the ITA Scholar-Athlete Team, Dean's List and President's List during her career. She helped the program earn the team academic award from the ITA. Away from the court, she has served as SAAC President. Her volunteer work includes the Special Olympics, spearheading a food drive and participating in a Q&A at a local elementary school. On the court, she was named All-Conference as a junior and played No. 1 singles her senior season.

Taylor Richey

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Richey graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in biology and a cumulative 3.72 grade point average. She was named Academic All-American Southwest Conference and was nominated as the ASC Academic Distinguished Scholar-Athlete. Richey led Sul Ross State at the 2013 ASC cross country championships, finishing 42nd in 29:55.24. Twice named the ASC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week by the ASC during the 2014 track season, she finished first in the 10,000 meters at the Trinity Open and the McMurry Invitational. She was also sixth in the 1500 meter run (6:15.96), the 5000 meter run (24:26.11) and the 10,000 meter run 52:02.83 at the ASC Track and Field Championships. Richey averaged 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while playing in 18 games for the SRSU women's basketball team during the 2013-14 season.

Kyle Schleigh

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Earning a starting role for the Comets as a freshman, Kyle Schleigh leaves UTD as the program's all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocked shots and steals, among several other categories. A two-time All-American during his career, Schleigh played in 113 career games with 108 starts and was a three-time first team All-ASC selection. He finished his career ranked sixth in the ASC in points and third in rebounds. As a junior, he was named the ASC East Division Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and was tabbed the ASC's Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. In addition, Schleigh is a two-time Academic All-ASC pick and a two-time Academic All-District selection. Upon graduation, Schleigh will intern with PricewaterhouseCoopers, the world's second largest professional services firm.
Elizabeth Sohns

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Sohns appeared in 66 career games with 43 starts for the Comets and was three times named Academic All-ASC. A four-year letter winner as a defender for the Comets, Sohns scored three goals and added two assists in her career. A 4.0 student throughout her career, Sohns is a UTD Student Ambassador and has been listed on the Dean's List every semester. As a senior, she was named to the ASC All-Tournament Team. Sohns is graduating with C5 honors and is the first UTD student-athlete to be accepted into the Archer Fellowship Program. She will soon be interning with the Fellowship in Washington, D.C., before pursuing higher education.

Enoch Shipman

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Shipman was named NSCAA Second Team All-American, NSCAA First Team All-West Region, First Team All-ASC and was the ASC Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year in 2013. He is a three-time All-ASC performer, as well as a three-time Academic All-ASC recipient in the classroom. He sports an impressive 3.98 GPA, and has been listed on the President's list six times and Dean's List once in his career. Shipman also helps out in the community, spending 50-plus hours doing community service, including time at the East Texas Food Bank and at Camp Tyler.
Lauren Robenalt

Summary of Collegiate Academic, Leadership, Athletic Accomplishments: Robenalt has had a stellar career, playing four seasons with the Texas-Tyler softball team. She was named First Team NFCA All-American, First Team NFCA All-West Region and First Team All-ASC in 2014. She has also been named All-ASC four times in her career, Academic All-ASC three times, All-Region two times and finished her career ranked second all-time in hits and first in stolen bases and lifetime batting average. In the classroom, Robenalt holds a 3.84 GPA, and has been named to the Dean's list seven times in her career. She also spends time giving back, spending time at the Bergfeld Park Kids' Day (2010-13), East Texas Food Bank (2012-13), Softball Training Camp at Faulkner Park (2011-14), Kiwanis Club Turkey Shoot (2010-13), Pine Cove's Neighborhood Clean-Up (2012-13).
