Hardin-Simmons Outruns Louisiana College, Heads to ASC Championship Game

RICHARDSON, Texas –Hardin-Simmons held off Louisiana College (83-73) to advance to the ASC Championship game.
 
Up by nine points at the 6:43 mark in the second half (77-68), the Wildcats closed the gap to three points (77-74) but would get no closer. Sophomore guard Cameron Barnes led a group of five Cowboys to score in double figures. Barnes joins junior forward Derrick Jefferson and freshman center Justin Jones with 15 points each.
 
Hardin-Simmons advances to its second ASC Championship game in team history. The Cowboys played in the 2012 championship game. HSU will play the winner of game six between No. 1 Texas-Dallas and No. 5 Texas-Tyler.
 
The Wildcats were led by sophomore forwards Kevin Lewis and Anthony Gaines. Lewis scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting and Gaines posted his fifth double-double with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Louisiana College ends its season at 12-14 overall after advancing to its first ASC Tournament semifinal round in school history.
