TYLER, Texas – University of Texas at Dallas overcame a slow start before rebounding for a strong finish en route to a 79-70 quarterfinal win over Concordia Texas in American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament on Friday (Feb. 28).
 
The Comets (21-5) held a one-point 21-20 lead with 3:00 left in the first half before extend to a 31-25 advantage by halftime. Concordia Texas (11-15) had trouble finding its shot as well in the opening half, shooting just 30 percent from the floor.
 
UTD got hot after the break, shooting 52 percent from the floor (13-of-25). The defense continued its strong form, holding the Tornados to 38 percent shooting for the game and winning the rebounding battle, 44-35.
 
Senior Morgan Kilgore led Texas-Dallas with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jo'Anna Davis added 17 points for the Comets, while Ashley Shaw and Amber Brown scored 10 points apiece.
 
Concordia Texas' Tyler Compton led all scorers with 20 points, while Kia Love added 10 in the loss.
 
Texas-Dallas advances to face Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the ASC semifinals.
