RICHARDSON, Texas –– Louisiana College senior forward Natosha Gottlieb and Howard Payne junior point guard Tresta Donahoo have been named division players of the year to headline the 2013 American Southwest Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference and All-Division selections, the ASC office announced on Wednesday (Feb. 27), following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
 
The 5-foot-10 Gottlieb (Alexandria, La / Bolton HS) earned the title of ASC East Division Player of the Year after averaging 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 2.5 assists despite playing just 23.8 minutes per game. Her points and steals were league highs. Gottlieb, who totaled 41 blocks, also took the East’s defensive player of the year honor for a second straight season. She led the Lady Wildcats to a division crown.
 
The 5-foot-4 Donahoo (Early, Texas / EHS) earned the title of ASC West Division Player of the Year after averaging 16.3 points, a league-high 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. She also shot 75.7 percent from the free throw line and connected on 33 three-pointers. Donahoo led the Lady Jackets to a division championship.
 
Gottlieb and Donahoo, who were both selected to their respective all-division first team, were also named to the prestigious five-player ASC All-Conference Team. They were joined by Louisiana College senior point guard Shaina Howard (Scott, La. / LSU-Eunice); Hardin-Simmons senior forward Alexis Popelar (Longview, Texas / Pine Tree HS); and Texas-Dallas senior guard Katie Korioth (New Braunfels, Texas / Temple College). Gottlieb has appeared on the all-conference team in back-to-back seasons.
 
East Texas Baptist guard April Leonard (Quitman, La. / Jonesboro-Hodge HS) was named ASC East Division Freshman of the Year after averaging 2.5 steals per game, while Texas-Dallas junior forward Morgan Kilgore (Webster, Texas / Paris JC) took top newcomer honors after averaging 13.4 points per contest. Mississippi College senior guard Valeri Stewart (Starkville, Miss. / SHS) was voted ASC East Division Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. First-year head coaches Kevin Baker of Texas-Tyler and Dustin Howard of East Texas Baptist shared coach of the year honors in the East after leading their squads to ASC tournament berths after both programs had not qualified the year prior.
 
Concordia Texas sophomore Domonique Liddell (Houston, Texas / Thurgood Marshall) was voted ASC West Division Defensive Player of the Year after blocking 32 shots, while teammate and fellow center DJ Vallier (Houston, Texas / Klein Oak HS) took freshman of the year honors after averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore forward Taylor Tucker (College Station, Texas / Kilgore) was the West’s top newcomer after averaging a league-high 11 rebounds per contest. Mary Hardin-Baylor senior post Brandi Dittert (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch HS) earned the title of ASC West Division Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year. Howard Payne’s Josh Prock earned West coach of the year honors after guiding a division title.
