RICHARDSON, Texas –– No. 5-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor posted the best regular season mark in program history, including a 20-1 run through league competition, and earned the right to host the 2012 American Southwest Conference Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament at Mayborn Campus Center in Belton, Texas, beginning Friday and lasting through Sunday (Feb. 24-26).

The entire eight-team, single elimination event will be available for fans through free live video streaming with audio provided by Stretch Internet, UMHB and the ASC. The Conference will have a “Tournament Central” page on ASCsports.org/HOOPS where the link to live video can be accessed as well as live stats, local radio feeds, box scores, game recaps, post-game interviews, photos and the updated bracket.

Mary Hardin-Baylor (24-1) and head coach Ken DeWeese have won two conference titles, the two previous times they hosted the ASC tournament in 2008 and 2010. The Cru won all 11 games it played on its home court this season. UMHB will put its eight-game winning streak on the line at 7:30 p.m. Friday against East Division No. 4 seed Mississippi College (9-5). MC has won a league-record six ASC titles – the last coming in 2007.

Texas-Dallas (21-4) and head coach Terry Butterfield enter as the East Division victor for the third straight season. The two-time ASC champions, who went 16-4 in league play (12-0 against East teams) and have won a program-record 12 straight games, begin in the first quarterfinal Friday at noon against the West Division’s No. 4 seed, Schreiner (13-12). SU is making its first appearance in the ASC tournament.

Hardin-Simmons (19-6), which is making back-to-back appearances at the tourney for the first time since 2007-2008, enters as the West Division’s No. 2 seed and will open at 2:30 p.m. Friday against the East’s No. 3 seed, Louisiana College (10-13). The Wildcats are in the ASC tournament for the first time since 2007.

East Texas Baptist (14-11), which is making a third-consecutive trip to the ASC tournament for the first time, will serve as the East’s No. 2 seed. The Tigers will battle West Division No. 3 seed and defending conference champion McMurry (17-8) at 5 p.m. Friday. The War Hawks are three-time ASC champions (also 2000-2001).

The semifinals are scheduled to tip-off Saturday at 2 p.m. (UTD-SU winner vs. HSU-LC winner) and 4:30 p.m. (ETBU-McM winner vs. UMHB-MC winner), with the championship game coming Sunday at 2 p.m.

The ASC championship tournament winner earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship.

- Admission prices for each day will be $8 for adults and $3 for students. An all-tournament pass will be also be available: $15 for adults and $7 for students. No complimentary pass lists will be accepted.

- This is the 14th season the ASC has sponsored a men’s basketball championship tournament.

- The hosting rights of the tourney rotate from West to East each year.

- Teams from the East Division hold a 7-6 advantage in titles won, but the West has claimed three of the last four.

- The host school has won four of the last five titles (including Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2008 and 2010) and seven overall.
