TUNICA, Miss.
-- The UT Tyler men's golf team stormed to a 16-stroke victory at the Rhodes Invitational played Sunday and Monday at Tunica National, besting three of the nation's top ten teams in the impressive early-season showing.

All five UT Tyler golfers finished in the top 15 in the 105-player field. 

Led by an overall second place finish from junior John Dukes, who shot an even 144 (72-72) for the two rounds, the Patriots fired team rounds of 292 and 289 to finish with a 581. Centre and Huntingdon tied for second with combined totals of 597.

Teammates Joey Rippel and Jacob Walsh tied for fourth place in the individual standings with combined rounds of 146. Rippel had rounds of 75 and 71, while Walsh shot 73 both days.

Trent Boudoin placed 10th overall with a 147 (74-73) and Cody Gonzalez had a 15th place total of 149 (73-76).

The latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches' Poll released before the tournament placed Huntingdon in sixth place, Oglethorpe in seventh and Centre ninth. The Patriots, ranked 12th, topped all three.

UT Tyler hits the links again on Oct. 3-4, hosting the UT Tyler Fall Invitational at the Cascades in Tyler.
