RICHARDSON, Texas –– The University of Texas at Dallas, Mississippi College, Louisiana College, McMurry University, the University of Texas at Tyler and Howard Payne University are all winners of American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards for 2011 fall sports, the conference office announced on Tuesday (Nov. 22).

The award, in its fifth academic year, honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAACs) from the conference’s 16 member institutions vote on the recipients.

Texas-Dallas won the team sportsmanship award in men’s cross country for the first time, while the Mississippi College women were honored for the fifth straight season. MC also got the top nod in football, its second time to be honored. Louisiana College became a two-time sportsmanship winner in men’s soccer, while McMurry was awarded for the first time. Texas-Tyler was honored in East Division volleyball for the second straight year, while Howard Payne claimed the top sportsmanship honor in the West Division for the third time.
