RICHARDSON, Texas –– Texas-Tyler posted a 10-1-1 mark in league play to win the American Southwest Conference regular season title for the second straight season and earn the right to host the 2011 ASC Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament, to be held Nov. 4-6 again at Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler, Texas.

The entire six-team, single elimination event will be available for fans through free live video with audio and live statistics. All links can be found on UT Tyler’s athletic website (http://www.uttylerpatriots.com/) and the conference’s Tournament Central page.

Head coach Kenny Jones and the defending conference champion Patriots (14-2-1), who also raised the ASC trophy in 2008, earned a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed. UT Tyler has won the conference crown both times it has hosted the event. Head coach Dan Heger and seven-time ASC champion Hardin-Simmons (10-4-3) locked up the No. 2 seed and will receive the other first-round bye. The Cowboys held the head-to-head tie-breaker over two-time ASC champion Texas-Dallas (12-3-2), who will be the No. 3 seed after also posting a 10-2-1 mark in league play.

Mary Hardin-Baylor (11-4-1) is the No. 4 seed, Mississippi College (14-3-2) is the No. 5 seed and LeTourneau (6-9-2) secured the sixth seed.

Friday’s first-round matchups include UMHB against MC at 11 a.m., with the winner getting host UT Tyler in Saturday’s 11 a.m. semifinal. LETU and UTD will duel on Friday at 2 p.m., with the victor going against HSU at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the semifinals. The championship game is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.

Returning All-Tournament selections are most valuable player Jake Urbaniak of Texas-Tyler and teammates Justin NeSmith and Chris Powell. Mississippi College’s Ben Cross and Ryan Dunbar, and Texas-Dallas’ Eric Pekkala aree also back after being honored last year.

The ASC tournament winner earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship.
