Spring Branch, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team held its ground on the final day and the Cru women posted an 11-shot victory at the Alamo City Classic. UMHB posted a 319-322=641 team total and topped U.T.-Tyler's 335-317=652 by 11 strokes. Southwestern University finished third with a 335-337=672, tournament host Trinity University posted a 330-343=673 to claim fourth place, McMurry University finished in fifth place with a 371-382=753 and Texas Lutheran's 381-374=755 was good for sixth place.
UMHB's Sara Eckert won the individual title after firing a 75-75=150. Eckert won medallist honors by four shots over U.T.-Tyler's Katie Crawford (80-74=154). Kristen Cain tied for fourth place for the Cru with an 82-79=161, Kelly Gonyea finished sixth at 80-82=162, Taylor O'Rear posted an 82-87=169 to tie for 13th place, Victoria Thane claimed 15th after shooting 84-86=170, Allison Holly carded an 84-88=172 to tie for 16th place and Emily Santos recorded an 88-94=182 to tie for 25th place individually.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,814-yard layout at River Crossing Golf Club in Spring Branch. The Alamo City Classic closed out a fall tournament schedule that saw the UMHB women win three of the four tournaments played. The Cru finished second to only McLennan Community College in the fourth tournament.
