HORSESHOE BAY, Texas – Mallory McAdams and her University of Mary Hardin-Baylor teammates hold first-round leads after Monday’s action at the American Southwest Conference Golf Championships.
At the Applerock course at the Horseshoe Bay Resort, McAdams opened with a 7-over-par 79 on the 5,912-yard course. She holds a 1-shot lead over teammate Christi Williams and defending ASC individual champion Leslie Lee of LeTourneau. Williams and Lee each each shot 80.
Nine players are within six shots of the individual lead.
UMHB enters Tuesday’s final round with a seven-shot lead over Schreiner. UMHB carded a 335, and Schreiner posted a 342. Schreiner has three players – Liz Calderon, Sarah Stillwell, and Gabby Rosales – in the top 10.
McMurry sits in third place, at 344. Defending women’s team champion University of Texas at Tyler is fourth at 345.
LeTourneau (352), Texas Lutheran (368), and the University of Texas at Dallas (426) stand in fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively.
The winner of the ASC Golf Championships receives the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships.
The second and final round starts at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. The second round also will be played at Applerock.
