DELHI, La. – After carding an opening-round score of 307 to lead by four strokes over McMurry University on Day 1, the 10th-ranked UT Tyler men's golf team followed with a 306 on the second day to pull away from the competition at the annual MC/LC Invitational at Black Bear Golf Course and win by a 19-stroke advantage.

The win for UT Tyler marked its fourth straight this season and second consecutive to open the spring, with three golfers finishing in the Top 5, led by sophomore Jacob Walsh who took first place overall after a combined two-day finish of 145 (70, 75).

The Patriots' two-day score of 613 (+37) was 19 strokes better than second place finisher, McMurry at 632 (+56). Mississippi College (640), UT Dallas (648), Texas Lutheran (670), Louisiana College (677), Millsaps College (683), Hendrix College (742) and Belhaven College (DNF) rounded out the other finishers.

Walsh's opening-day score of 2-under-par 70 marked the tournament low, with teammate Joey Rippel firing an even-par 72 on day two for the tournament's second-lowest round en route to a third place finish overall.

The UT Tyler men and women will be back in action on Thursday at the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga.
