Laura Lindsey, Fr., Texas-Tyler

Texas-Tyler freshman Laura Lindsey (Montgomery, Texas / MHS) posted a pair of 78s to win the individual title and fuel a team crown at the West Region Invitational at par-72 Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, Texas. Lindsey, who also took the league’s top weekly golfer award in the fall, won medalist honors by four strokes. Her opening-round score tied for the day’s lowest round in the field of 49 golfers. Her play helped the Patriots win the event by 14 strokes.

Schreiner’s Gabby Rosales posted an 88-72—160 to finish as the runner-up at the West Region Invitational. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Kelly Gonyea (79-85) and Sara Eckert (85-79) posted 164s for top-10 finishes at Berry Creek Country Club. . . . LeTourneau’s Candice Nishimura had an 81-84—165 for a top-15 result in Georgetown, Texas. . . . Concordia Texas’ Blair Allen posted an 83-85—168 for a top-20 finish at the West Region Invitational. . . . Texas Lutheran’s Macy Glass had an 84-85—169 to post a top-20 result at Berry Creek Country Club.
