Kyle Schleigh, F, Jr., Texas-Dallas

Texas-Dallas junior forward Kyle Schleigh (Houston, Texas / Lingwood HS) averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds, 5.5 assists and two blocks to fuel a 2-0 week that secured the Comets a fifth straight ASC East Division title and the right to host the conference tournament. Schleigh, who takes the division’s top weekly award for a seventh time this season, made 5 of 6 free throws and hit three 3-pointers. He pulled down a program-record 21 rebounds against Ozarks. Schleigh also eclipsed the 500-point plateau for the season, setting another UTD mark.

 
WEST DIVISION

 
Dwayne Patterson, F, Jr., Concordia Texas

Concordia Texas senior forward Dwayne Patterson (Long Beach, Calif. / Klein HS) averaged 24.5 points – on 72.7 percent shooting – seven rebounds, four steals and three assists to fuel a pair of conference road wins to close out the regular season. Patterson, who takes the division’s top weekly award for the second time this season, made 13 free throws, hit 4 of 5 from 3-point range and added two blocked shots. Patterson had game-highs in points against both Sul Ross State and Howard Payne. He went for 24 against HPU.

TEXAS-TYLER: The Patriots finished second in the ASC east, and will head to the postseason for the first time since 2010-11. UT Tyler set a school record for wins in a season this year, winning 18 games.
 
MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR: The Cru had its 11-game winning streak snapped in a 75-73 loss to Howard Payne, but UMHB won 20 of its last 22 games to close out the season. Thomas Orr scored a game-high 16 to lead the Cru in the victory over Sul Ross. UMHB won its fifth ASC West Division title this season and has qualified for the ASC Tournament for the 14th time in Ken DeWeese's 15 seasons on campus.
 
TEXAS-DALLAS: After a pair of home wins to close out the regular season, the Comets (19-6, 14-5 ASC) will host the ASC Tournament for the third time in five seasons. UTD enters the postseason on a six-game winning streak and winners of 13 of its last 15 games since a rare three-game losing streak in December...Junior forward Kyle Schleigh continues to re-write the Comets' record book with arguably the best season in program history. In Monday's 67-50 home win over the Ozarks, Schleigh broke the UTD single-season scoring and rebounding records and added top single-game rebounding performance in school history. Schleigh pulled downed a program-best 21 rebounds as he collected his 12th "double-double" of the season. After UTD's win over LeTourneau Saturday, Schleigh now has 523 points and 244 rebounds on the season. He became the first-ever Comet to top the 500-mark in a season. Schleigh currently leads the ASC in scoring and steals and ranks second in rebounding...After claiming their fifth outright ASC East crown, the Comets are making their 10th straight trip to the ASC Tournament this weekend. UTD is 10-7 all-time at the event, collecting titles in 2005 and 2009.
 
CONCORDIA TEXAS: Concordia (20-5, ASC 15-4) will appear in the American Southwest Conference Tournament for the sixth time in seven years riding a five-game winning streak after defeating Sul Ross State and Howard Payne by an average margin of 25.5 points this past week ... The team's 15 American Southwest Conference wins is a school record, while the 20 overall victories is a new standard for the program's NCAA Division III and ASC era ... Dwayne Patterson, who set a single-season rebounding record during the program's NCAA Division III era by grabbing eight against Howard Payne, led the way by averaging 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals over the two wins ... He also shot 72.7 percent from the floor and 80 percent from long range.
 
HOWARD PAYNE: The Jackets started the week with a road win over regionally ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor. Brandon Gould finished the game with a career high 31 points. He also dished out eight assists and was 12 of 14 from the free-throw line for the week.
 
HARDIN-SIMMONS: HSU has qualified for the ASC Tournament for the third straight year and for the sixth time in school history. HSU is 7-5 all-time in the ASC Tournament, have won at least one game in all five previous appearances and have advanced to the championship game on two different occasions. The Cowboys have four players averaging in double figures. Eric Taylor leads the team with 13.8 points per game, Andy Spears averages 12.3 points and 8.3 rebounds, Darius Singletary scores 10.8 points per game and John Derr is averaging 10.2 points per game. Junior guard Eric Taylor ranks second in the ASC in assists and is eighth in scoring. He is one of only three players to be in the top 10 in the ASC in both categories. Senior guard John Derr is the school's all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 247. He has attempted more 3-pointers than anyone in conference history with 744 attempts.
 
LETOURNEAU: The LeTourneau YellowJackets are going to the ASC Tournament for the first time since 2008-09 after defeating the Ozarks on Thursday before falling at Texas-Dallas on Saturday. Justin Jones led the Jackets to the win over the Eagles with 31 points as LeTourneau now await their seeding for Friday's game.
 
TEXAS LUTHERAN: Texas Lutheran withstood a late rally by Hardin-Simmons to post a 65-62 home win Thursday in the Bulldogs' season finale. At TLU's Memorial Gymnasium, TLU led by five with 28 seconds to play and then by three with nine seconds remaining.  Senior Brandon Potts (San Antonio/MacArthur) scored 10 and grabbed eight rebounds. Garrett Wilkins (Austin/Connally) and Brendan Holderread (Kingwood/Kingwood) each contributed 11 points. Holderread dished out five assists and recorded six rebounds. The Bulldogs shot 44 percent from the field in the second half. TLU improved to 8-17 overall and to 6-13 in the American Southwest Conference West Division. Thursday's game was the Bulldogs' final men's basketball game as a member of the ASC. TLU moves into the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for 2013-14.
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE: The Choctaws closed out the regular season on a three-game winning streak and will head into this week's ASC Tournament as the #3 seed from the ASC East Division. MC opened the week with a 74-67 win over Texas-Tyler on Thursday night. On Saturday, senior Adam Smith scored a career-high 24 points and had 15 rebounds in the 74-68 win over East Texas Baptist. On Monday night, junior Brandon Blake had a career-high 26 points in the 84-71 victory over Louisiana College. MC is the only team in the ASC to qualify for all 15 ASC Tournaments. They will open up against West Division #2 Concordia Texas on Friday night at 5:00 p.m. in Richardson, Texas.
 
SUL ROSS STATE: The Lobos finish the 2012-13 season at 5-20, 4-15 ASC after losing to Concordia 91-116 and to UMHB 61-87.
 
LOUISIANA COLLEGE: The Wildcats went 1-2 on the week with an 84-75 victory over ETBU and a loss to UT-Tyler (92-91) as well as Mississippi College (84-71) … Anthony Gaines, Jr. ends the season leading all ASC freshman in scoring at 12.9 PPG, edging out LeTourneau’s Ladaria Brown (12.0 PPG), and his teammate Kevin Cottonham (11.9 PPG) … Gaines, Jr. is 4th in the ASC in field goal percentage at 58.2% shooting from the field … Senior Derrick Gardner finished the season leading the ASC in blocked shots at 1.8 BPG … Freshman Kevin Cottonham is 5th in the ASC in assists with 3.8 APG while Phillip George is 8th at 3.5 APG, LC is the only team in the ASC with two players in the top 10.
 
SCHREINER: The Mountaineers (11-14, 8-11 ASC) lost to Hardin-Simmons (95-80) in their only game of the week. Schreiner will face UT-Dallas in the first round of the ASC Tournament this Friday in Dallas.
