ABILENE, TX – The championship round of the 2008 American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship Tournament Series will be held May 2-4 (Friday-Sunday) at Walt Driggers Field on the campus of McMurry University.

Playing for the conference championship and a berth into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship along with host McMurry (26-17) will be Concordia University Texas (28-14), University of Texas at Tyler (35-7) and Mississippi College (24-17).

All games will be available to follow through live statistics and audio. All links can be found on the ASC’s website and the official championship round website.

To advance to the double elimination tournament, the four squads had to win best-of-three series last weekend. McMurry outlasted Louisiana College in three, Concordia toppled University of the Ozarks in three, Texas-Tyler swept Hardin-Simmons University and MC also needed just two games to eliminate the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. All four victorious clubs were playing at home.

McMurry, the runner-up last season, will be going for its first ASC title since 2004 and fourth overall. CTX’s only league title came in 2002, while MC’s was the following year. Texas-Tyler is in its first season eligible for postseason play after serving the last four seasons as a NCAA provisional member.
