RICHARDSON, Texas –– Artwork created by University of Mary Hardin-Baylor senior computer graphic design major and football player Chad Hilton will be used on all American Southwest Conference championship T-Shirts for the 2007-08 athletic year, the ASC office announced on Monday (Oct. 22) after a vote of the conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Hilton won the conference’s second annual ASC Championship T-Shirt Design Challenge, which was open to all students of member institutions.

Hilton’s design features the text ‘ASC’ in blue italics above ‘CHAMPIONS’ in red and ‘2007-2008’ in blue – all centered and shadowed in white. The official conference seal is faded into the background.

“I wanted to create something that was eye-catching, yet somewhat simple,” said Hilton, a native of Magnolia, Texas.

The design will go on gray shirts that all ASC champions will receive immediately following their victories. The individual sport names will appear in black on the left sleeve in the same font as ‘ASC.’

Hilton, an art minor, is currently a three-year letterwinner for the nationally-ranked UMHB football team. The defensive end was an All-ASC Academic selection in 2005 and 2006 and also helped guide ASC titles in each of those seasons.

The first conference championship event of 2007-08 will be cross country on October 27.
